Carbon Trace has submitted the 1 Mile Solution to Change.org. 28% of all trips in the USA are within 1 mile of home. The vast majority of these trips are made by car. We should encourage people (who are able) to replace one car trip per week within a mile from home with walking or cycling. One trip becomes two, then three, then more. The benefits for the environment, the pocketbook, and our personal and community well being would be huge. Its a very simple and practical concept that could go a long way if we give it some legs. The pluasability of 1MS is supported by research data from less car-centric countries that shows average people will make trips less than 1 mile by foot or bicycle if the infrastructue (and culture) is in place.  Please take a couple of seconds to Vote and support this idea.
